1 - CHURCH OF CHRIST IN THE CHOIR (KARIYE MUSEUM): Church of Christ the Saviour, since 1948, is open to tourists as the Kariye Museum, is a Byzantine church in Istanbul, the best that preserved its original appearance. The facility was built by the efforts of Maria Duca in 1077-1081 years. During its existence, the church was hit by an earthquake and was severely damaged. In the years 1315-1321 the church was rebuilt after the power Poleologs came to reign.
2 - ISTANBUL PATRIARCHATE (ST. GEORGE'S CATHEDRAL): Cathedral of St. George in Istanbul is an Orthodox Cathedral, called in the name of St. George the Victorious. Beginning in 1601 this place is the residence of the Patriarch of Constantinople. The cathedral is located in Istanbul's Fener district, in the historic city of Istanbul. The cathedral is a three-nave basilica, has a modest appearance, but is richly decorated inside. In consequence of fires, the building of the cathedral was restored several times. The last restoration was carried out in the 1990s.
3 - ST. MARY OF THE MONGOLS CHURCH: Church of St. Panagiotis, or the Church of St. Mary of the Mongols, is one of the most important Christian churches since Constantinople. Today it is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul. The church was named in honor of Mary of the Mongolian, the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Michael VIII. It was her convent owes its current appearance and name of the monastery, which was built in 1281.
4 - BULGARIAN ST. STEPHEN CHURCH (IS CURRENTLY UNDER RESTORATION): Church of St. Stephen, otherwise known as Bulgarian Church, or "Iron Church" - is the Orthodox church, named in honor of the first martyr Stephen. The peculiarity of the church is that it is built entirely of cast iron - hence the name "Iron Church". Before the structure was a wooden church, which was consecrated on Oct. 9, 1870. But after the fire and the destruction of the strong structure of the temple, by the decree of the Sultan of Turkey on June 25, 1890 were allowed to build a new temple on the site of the wooden church. The main stone of the new church laid April 27, 1892 Exarch Joseph I. The temple is situated in the area between Fener and Balat.
5 - BLACHERNAE CHURCH - 1600 YEAR ACTIVE "LIFE GIVING'' SPRING: Blachernae Church is a famous church in the history of Eastern Christianity, which was located near the suburb of Blachernae at the imperial palace during the time of Constantinople, near the shores of the Golden Horn, in the historic part of the city. The temple was built at the foot of the sixth hill city of Constantinople and was located outside the borders of Theodosiev walls. Construction site was started by Empress Pulcheria in 450, and after her death, the construction was finished by Marcian.
6 - CHURCH OF ST. MARY OF THE SPRING: Church of St. Mary of the Spring - an Orthodox church in Istanbul, located next to the life-givingsprings. The ancient building of V-VI centuries was destroyed in the XV century by the Ottomans. The building, which bears the same name and located in the same place, was built in 1835. The temple is associated with the tradition of honoring the icons of Life-giving Spring.
7 - CHURCH OF ST. ANTHONY: Church of St. Anthony of Padua - a Catholic basilica in the city of Istanbul. The church is located in the European part of the city, in the Beyoglu district on the main street Istiklal. In 1906 was laid the first stone in the foundation of the church, and in 1912 was the opening. Church of St. Anthony was built by Italian architect Giulio Mondzheri in Istanbul, on the turn of the century many beautiful buildings was built.
8 - RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH: Russian Orthodox Church of St. Panteleimon is located in the district of Karakoy in the historic city of Istanbul. The basis for the church was laid as early as 1873, when the pilgrims bound for Mount Athos, in the present district of Karakoy were erected three adjacent monastery of Mount Athos monasteries.
